My focus is undergraduate mathematics education, and I have earned several teaching awards, including a Charles Deering McCormick University Distinguished Lectureship and an Arts and Sciences Alumni Teaching Award, both from Northwestern University, and a Lockheed-Martin Most Supportive Professor Award from the Society of Women Engineers at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Previously, my research in dynamical systems examined the structure of hyperbolic sets and modes of recurrence, and I am a co-author of the textbook Recurrence and Topology, published by the American Mathematical Society. Earlier in my career I taught at Pomona College and Carleton College.
