Describing Singularities

Abstract:

In the last fourty years, an immense amount of energy has been put into the search for singularities of non linear waves and their description using very different approaches: formal computations, numerical evidence, rigorous derivations, ... In the last ten years, a unified vision has emerged which I will present to describe all known mechanisms of singularity formation. This will motivate the search for new unexpected scenarii.
